Hope Reins Therapeutic Riding Association is a new, registered, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with physical, mental and emotional disabilities through the benefits of therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities. Our doors will be officially opened in early April and we hope to be able to serve up to 25 students weekly. We are located in Carrolls Corner, between Halifax and Truro and therefore will be able to serve students from the surrounding areas.
Our organization does not yet have charitable status which will pose challenges for us in the first year as we try to raise money to achieve our goals. It is important to note that everyone at Hope Reins is a volunteer; nobody earns an income and nobody profits in any way except our students.
We need your help. As a new organization we are in need of many items in order to provide a safe environment for our students. These items include:
- Helmets, specialized reins and other riding gear
- A wheelchair ramp for loading students onto the horses
- Improvements to areas where students need to be able to walk or manoeuvre their chairs or assistive walking devices
- An indoor arena in order to provide year round lessons
We need the generousity of those who can afford to donate in order to serve our students.
To this end we intend to do creative fundraising through events and raffles and for this we need donations of prizes. We are also more than pleased to accept donations of money but, of course, are unable at this time to provide tax receipts. If you or someone you know are able to make a donation we, and our students, would be very grateful. We would be happy to meet with local organizations and speak about Hope Reins.
If you would like to make a donation of money, goods or services, please feel free to contact us.
